Description

If a player is not able to cross out two boxes (combination of dungeon spaces and dealing damage to a monster) then they lose a life point. The rule benefiting everyone when someone defeats a monster for the first time is a help, but wasn’t enough to offset the leader’s head start. After deciding on what pairs to use for their map, players can cross off any space adjacent to an already visited space or starting space. Now, when I played this game solo (on expert, which ended up being quite a comedy as I got blown off the table), I played it for 20 minutes and got to roll dice a ton while finishing a drink at my basement bar. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice.

The active player can make any combinations they’d like to form 2 sets of dice, while the other players may only use the white dice unless they’d like to use 1 of their 3 starting black die uses, indicated on the right side under the treasures. The main mechanic of the game involves the active player rolling the five dice, and then all players use the dice to make two pairs of dice to give them two numbers. In exactly the same way that books are Just Words, movies are Just Frames, music is Just Notes, and video games are Just Pixels. So really you are still making 2 marks – but man, you really don’t want to put marks on your life meter). It’s much more my speed than, say, an “I cut, you choose” type of game, since my choice doesn’t negatively impact anyone else.It starts off fairly straight-forward, but gets more challenging as rooms get crossed off leading to a frantic race to the end. This will help you get perks early, but it may take you longer to hit the Monster if the numbers aren’t in your favor. The contents first and foremost are simple and provide the easiest setup that almost any game can offer. Each player then sums up each pair and then uses those two numbers to cross off rooms on their dungeon sheet.

Before each game begins, the players collectively decide on one of the four available maps, scaled by difficulty.

Sometimes, it’s best to go around certain spaces and then use the Monsters as a dumping ground, but you also want to score points. Players may also gain three more black dice, or a torch, or +3 health when they cross off a space on their map with a treasure chest. Once players kill monsters, they gain gems based on whether they killed the monster before or after other players.
