Description

Then she finds herself in deadly danger when she begins to close in on a suspected murderer and the sinister nature of the ice cream business leads her to a chilling conclusion. Agatha and her assistant, Toni, are driving to their friend Bill Wong's wedding, thinking of nothing more than what the beautiful bride will be wearing when a terrified young man comes running down the country lane towards them wearing. . . nothing at all. Agatha and her business associate Toni Gilmore are driving to their friend, Peter Wong and Alice Peter's wedding. They see a naked man running down the road. They stop and he tells them he saw a man dead. The man's name is Edward Carstairs. They ask him to take them to where he found the body. He takes them to a naturist club but when they get there they find that the body is missing.. The police are called. Detective Chief Inspector Wilkes arrives along with Deputy Gittens. They are told by Edward about what he saw and that the body is now missing.. Wilkes and Agatha are not fond of each other. When there Agatha and Toni meet the chairman of the club Jasper Crane. along with sister's Ursula Danieli and Ulrika Raynor. Agatha and Toni feel that there are strange things going on at the camp.. They go to the wedding arriving just in time. Devil's Delight is book #33 of the Agatha Raisin mysteries series by M.C Beaton and R.W. Green, who has written it for Ms. Beaton, who is sadly no longer with us. Thankfully, we have R.W. Green so that Agatha lives on, and fans can read more of her. This book is one of the more unique Agatha Raisin books. Unique in a good way! Taking the series in new directions makes me wonder if Ms. Beaton would have written a book like this. I give this book four stars. If you’re seeing a naked young man running down the middle of the road towards us,” Agatha replied, unable to tear her eyes away from the spectacle, “then, yes—I’m seeing everything.”

When Toni and Agatha stop to see what this man could want, Edward Carstairs explains that he is the social convenor for the Mircester Naturist Society, a group of people who enjoy each other's company while naked. He found a naked body on the Lone Warrior, a large slab of stone that once some people had made human sacrifices. The story has so much happening that it is hard for me to put it all in writing.. With Agatha trying to figure out what is going on the story takes off and the reader is taken on an adventure of who the dead man is, the different situations that Agatha and her employees get themselves into. The story comes to an exciting and unexpected ending that I don't want to spoil for the reader. The encounter leads them to become embroiled with a naturist group, a disappearing corpse, fantasy games, witchcraft, an ice cream empire, intrigue and murder. In the meantime, Agatha's hectic life swirls along at dizzying pace, her private detective agency as busy as ever and her private affairs in turmoil - old loves to contend with and a new suitor on the scene.

I've been reading Agatha Raisin mysteries for years and love Agatha's feisty spirit, her vanity and her brazen behavior, especially when it comes seeking the attentions of a new man or running rings around the local constabulary. Author M.C. Beaton may have departed us but Green has kept her intrepid 50 something P.I. alive and, except when she puts herself in mortal danger(!), alive and well in Devil's Delight. Still, he’s not difficult to look at, is he?” Toni commented, stepping out of the car, her eyes still on the front door of the building. “I mean—he’s fit, good muscle tone, nice tan. Funny little birthmark on his left hip.”

Jasper has Agatha taste Antonio's ice cream and tells her about his favorite flavor Antonio makes called Devil' Delight, which has chili peppers in it. Ursula always calls him when they make it. The Devil's Delight ice cream is the part where I can't explain further without getting into spoilers, and I try not to write spoilers. Genre Audiobooks Buy Agatha Raisin: Devil's Delight by M.C. Beaton, read by Penelope Keith (Audiobook extract) I liked how much John Glass liked Agatha and treated her so well. I hope we find them as a couple in future books. After all, we met Giovanni, the Italian choral director, who slept with Agatha and didn't want anything to do with her the next day. I didn't trust Giovanni from the beginning. He seemed too good to be true. A photograph of The King's Men of the Rollright Stones in Oxfordshire, UK. Image sourced from Wikipedia. It happens like this: Agatha and her assistant Toni Gilmour are driving to the Wong-Peters nuptials.....I’ve been a huge fan of this series but now that M.C. Beaton is not writing them anymore they’ve kind of lost their way some what. They’re kind of getting a little too out there, even for Agatha Raisin! And that’s saying something!
