Description

You’ve just taken one more step to being a proper modeller Everybody spills liquid cement at some point — you can try to minimise the chance by using squat, square bottles and stands for them (or velcro, or Blue Tac, or anything else that helps keep the bottle upright) but you will at some point. This version is the “quick setting” variant that dries around 4 times faster than the original Tamiya Extra Thin Cement, saving you time (and energy) holding parts in place! Mixed them and tried them firstly to join some plastic pipe and then to fix together some kit parts.

And it means I’ll have a supply of it any time, instead of having to pause building a model because the glue has run out. A widely popular glue among modellers, Tamiya Extra Thin Cement Quick Set will help you work quicker than ever! In an earlier discussion on this forum not too long ago, we were talking about the ingredients of Tamiya cement. The standard Tamiya Extra Thin can also be used as traditional cement because it takes longer to evaporate.

Unfortunately I knocked it and it spilt not only on the mat but a part of my viking, I then noticed in horror it started to melt the part and when I wiped the mat the printed bit came of on the paper towel, what is in it for that to happen and why the horrid smell, is this normal, I'm now not a happy viking, the part I think can be salvaged as it will be hidden, the mat however I think needs replacing as I'd be worried that it will contaminate my normal wood models. Tamiya EXTRA THIN model cement is used to glue together plastic model kits that use polystyrene plastic. As you would probably expect, there are differences in the chemical compounds used to produce these two types of cement. It is highly liquid and able to flow into even small cracks, making it useful for attaching parts in very tight spaces. That turned out to have easy answers too, and I therefore decided to purchase a 100 ml bottle of each, plus a 10 ml pipette to more easily measure them Each of the bottles was under €3, so if this works as intended, I spent less than €6 for 200 ml while a bottle of Tamiya extra thin cement is around €7 for 40 ml.Ok, so what follows are a series of short HD videos where I give you an overview of the range of glues and adhesives I use, followed by separate entries showing each one in a little more detail and how to use it. I am wondering if this "Limonene" cement has some ingredient that is affecting it's bonding properties somehow. Fantastic Tamiya thin cement works by 'melting' the plastic together and does so in under 10 seconds.
